Samsung Galaxy SIII Coming To India In June, Priced At INR 38,000

Galaxy SIII, Samsung’s latest flagship and upgrade to the hugely popular Galaxy SII will be launched in India in June. It is believed that the phone will be priced for INR 38,000 (~$715) for a SIM-free version. However, our sources have tipped us that the street price will be around INR 34,000 (~$640).

The phone is blessed with a gorgeous 4.8′ Super AMOLED screen with a 720p resolution (~306 ppi density). The screen is fortified with Gorilla Glass 2. The phone runs on a 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos processor with a Mali 400 GPU. The phone comes in three memory variants – 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. All versions can be further expanded using a MicroSD card up to 64GB. A 1GB RAM, 8MP rear snapper and 2MP front camera is same as its predecessor.

Major hardware upgrades include a 2,100 mAH battery which we believe should have enough juice to keep the device alive through one full day of use without the need to recharge, wireless charging option, NFC chip and a notification LED. However, it is on the software side where Samsung has really innovated. It includes gesture controls, S-voice (competitor to Apple iPhone’s Siri), Smart Stay eye tracking, Pop up Play and Smart alert.
